Havent been blogging for a while..... didnt feel like it so ok shall blog about randomn things, starting with YAWP. ( yes I know its late. Just dont rub it in. )
It started off rather badly, with me missing the 154 bus and having to wait for 20 min for the next bus which left at 6.55. ( we had to be there by 7 and my wings were cut off by evil hunters. ) But upon reaching there ,at 7.20 mind you, discovered that only ashima and anni were there, with a missing 10 batchmates.
me (hysterically) : sec ones!!!! Have you seen any of the sec twos????
sarah and janne: You mean anni and ashima? 'cause their the only ones here.
So I sat there, beside the dustbins, waiting for them, and soon tiff, daphne and joey arrived whereupon we were hurriedly rushed into LT3 by a very tensed looking Karen. (the HCI one)
Sitting there in the LT I calmly read the programme booklet with Joey while Ashima and Anni desperetly attempted to get Karen( rgs one ) on the phone. Finally, at 8pm, the french people arrived looking like earthquake victims with Karen in the lead. After quick hellos to Farah, we all went backstage as Kyung tae and steffi changed into their costumes and went back to watch the performances.
The performances, to put it simply, were INCREDIBLE. with a capital I. The guest performances were a bit wierd with the exception being the guy who read the milo van. Ng Yi Sheng's loud poem was a bit wierd, he forgot half his lines and was reciting it in a completely different rhythm altogether. You could see Alfian Sa'at bob his head along to the rhythm. The guy who did that wierd guitar head banging thing was even worse. By the time he ended, all of us had clasped hands over our ears.
me (when the guy started banging his head) : You know, I seriously think something is wrong with him. Should we call the ambulance?
Karen: Relax, he is just expressing himself through his music.
- wierd guy starts to look as if having spasms-
Karen: ok maybe we should.
And another one when Ng Yi Sheng was giving intro about his poems
Ng Yi sheng: This poem was written before I lost my virginity, when I was in college
Karen( shreiks): TOO MUCH INFORMATION!
Steffi: See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. ( complete with the hands over mouth thing.)
The school performances were, as we had seen them during the auditions, great. I especially loved the kitkat klubs costume, with their strong contrast between black and red. Although their essence and performance was not strong. The girl in the centre who acted as the cabaret singer, was exceptionally talented. She could ballet, sing and do a centre split. St nicks was lovely, with their tomyam martinis and school values duo. The ACS people were..... wierd. It was like a spoof which goes completely wrong. Plus the girl had the entire audience baffled as to her real sexual identity. We sec twos suspected her to really be a guy in drag or a really manly girl.
The HCI girl acting was really good but her enunciation could have been improved. I loved the way she used her props to show the different lifestyles of people i.e. adolescent, addict, workaholic and heiress. I really liked melo's group, they did something on Singapore you are not my country which was really brought about strongly. I especially loved the part where they showed the lifestyles of singaporeans, through pharases like next stop, Kembengan, doors closing.......
And I have just realised, I forgot to mention this, but WE WON THIRD PRIZE!!! Gosh we were'nt really expecting it considering that we only rehearsed for 4 days whereas others have been rehearsing for months. Nevertheless, we were very very happy. Karen also won best poem, tie-ing with the HCI girl performing individually who was in JC. Tomyam martini won 2nd and the clear winners, HCJC team with melo won 1st.
The fillers were hilarious, even better then the pink pingpong ball one that they performed during camp react. A poem about a black and raciasm was read out which brought about serious issues through humour. And I loved the randomn skit that they did, about the monkey god and here they called themselves, " chingchong china land " . AHAHAHAHA.
Well, after the whole thing ended, Ms Santhi came over to give roses and much hugging was involved. Right on top of the stage. However, happy baboons as we were, we did'nt care. We all then walked down to the busstop singing happy songs and talking about the performances. I then went home on 156 which came at 11.55, resulting in a very sleepy me reaching home at 12.30am.
The next day was founders day which was generally ok except that we two-oh-ateins, being in direct view of the audience had to stand the whole time. And that we had to wear a tie. OH THE AGONY!!! However, Lava and Tisha were behind which resulted in better entertainment than the speeches made by randomn people. Tiff and Wala emceed, and tiff looked like a cute primary 1 kid in her split ponytail. Both emceed brilliantly, as usual and looked as cute as possible with big red hearts plastered onto their chests.
The performances, were rather short but I really liked all of them. Indian dance did a couple of dances, ranging from classical to retro ish. Their costumes were glittery but they wore too much makeup making them look rather nymph-like. Rhythmic Gym was very breezy with light swishes and tossing of rings. It was rather interesting when one of the girls popped out of the box in the centre.
I loved the cheerleaders dance and RICHARDSONS POMPOMS were love! And they gave free baloons, but sadly being helium filled, they didnt last long. However, they were indeed fun. Old RGS choir people came back and sang a medley of songs, in a super professional way. How I wish we would do that too, instead of croaking reruns of "crash", "where is the love" and randomn songs....
All the people there were wearing gloves, which apparently symbolises "heart to heart" but in my opinion made them look like physicians. Well, to each its own I suppose. At the end we all sang the birthday song and the cake was bought out, resulting in squels from particularly loud and hungry sec ones.
Generally, it was a pretty ceremony but still not one I would waste my Saturday on, I guess even Raffles would'nt have...
And now, I update about SLI....
what??? You thought this post was ending??? Im afraid not, I still have camp and swim carn to blog about. SO SUFFER!!! *evil laugh*
ok, my update on SLI shall be very brief. Partly because I do not want to bore you guys and partly because I have forgotten everything. Yes, this is the price you pay when you do not blog for a month.
The formal part of SLI was as expected, boring. But as I was telling Abigail, anything beats being cooped up in the KS Chee with 450 other teenagers and a badly telecasted program. We spent most of the formal part sleeping and waking up to cheer when randomn people we know come on stage.
However, it got interesting as the informal segment started, with PSLs and Prefects doing their dances and skits. I loved the dance/skit thingy the house comm performed with Becky's Richard is not here today so im Richard's son. AHAHAHA.
The cheers were super fun and when the SLN started some randomn cheer none of us knew, the RI and RJ people started cheering even louder, which was so cool!!!!!! Having a brother and Jc school is so much fun yay!!! At the end of it, I went home to mug up on my phyics journals which I have yet to finish...
okaes... shall now publish this before going on to my next post which is basicly about stuts bdae, swim carn and march camp.
